The Arc of the Quad Cities Iowa
The Arc of the Quad Cities Area has joined with The Arc of Scott County! Under the new name The Arc of the Quad Cities Iowa, their programs and location will remain the same, and we will continue to preserve and promote their services and events. One of the many programs that we hope to build upon is the Grants that The Arc of the Quad Cities Iowa offers. With up to $250 a year to spend on leisure activities, these grants allow individuals at The Arc to pursue fun and enriching activities that they may not otherwise have been able to participate in.

What is The Arc of the Quad Cities Iowa?
The Arc the largest national community-based organization advocating for and serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. We encompass all ages and all spectrums from autism, Down syndrome, Fragile X and various other developmental disabilities.
Our Mission
The Arc promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and actively supports their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes.
The History of The Arc
The Arc was born more than 60 years ago from a grassroots movement of families working vigilantly to create services for children and adults who were being denied day care, educational opportunities and work programs.
Founded in 1950, The Arc was compromised of a small group of concerned and passionate parents and community members who would be catalyst for changing the public perception of children with disabilities. For the past 60+ years, The Arc has continued to grow and evolve along the changing needs and issues people with disabilities and their families face.
Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and managed by key staff of The Arc, we work passionately to uphold our vision that every individual and family living with an intellectual or developmental disability in the United States has access to the information, advocacy, and skills they need to participate as active citizens of our democracy and active members of their community.

Events
The Arc of the Quad Cities Iowa has been hosting their Winter Party on the first Friday of December every year for over 25 years. At this party, which is unique because it is open to all agencies in the area, special needs adults in Scott County can participate in music, dancing, food, and fellowship. Admission is just $1, and Santa always visits to distribute gift bags to the attendees.
