Together, We’ll Knock Barriers Out of the Park
The Arc of the Quad Cities Area is proud to partner with the Quad City River Bandits and the QC Disabilities Awareness Coalition for Disability Awareness Night, taking place on Friday, August 14th, at Modern Woodmen Park. This special evening brings the community together on and off the field to celebrate inclusion, awareness, and the strength that comes from seeing ability in every individual.
Under the lights at the ballpark, we’ll spotlight the importance of inclusion while enjoying America’s favorite pastime, because when we work together as a team, we can knock barriers out of the park.
A Night of Baseball, Awareness & Community
Disability Awareness Night combines the excitement of a River Bandits game with a meaningful opportunity to support initiatives that build more inclusive communities across the Quad Cities. Through collaboration with the QC Disabilities Awareness Coalition, the evening highlights advocacy, visibility, and the shared responsibility to create spaces where everyone belongs.
Fans can expect all the energy and fun of a River Bandits game, while learning more about the organizations and efforts working year‑round to promote accessibility, dignity, and opportunity.
Give Back While You Cheer
Attendees are encouraged to bring a non‑perishable food item to donate toward the MLK Food Drive, helping stock food pantries that support local churches, community centers, and Salvation Army locations throughout the Quad Cities.
As a thank you for stepping up to the plate:
- Anyone who donates a non‑perishable food item will receive a voucher for a 2026 Quad City River Bandits regular‑season home game.
It’s a win‑win: you help fight hunger in our community and score a future trip back to the ballpark.
Why Disability Awareness Night Matters
Disability Awareness Night is about more than one game, it’s about visibility, education, and collaboration. Events like this help shine a light on the experiences, contributions, and value of people of all abilities, while reinforcing the idea that inclusive communities make us all stronger.
When fans, organizations, and partners come together at the ballpark, the message is clear: inclusion isn’t a side event, it’s part of the main lineup.
Join Us for a Home Run Night of Inclusion
From the first pitch to the final out, Disability Awareness Night is a reminder that when our community plays together, everyone wins. Bring your love of baseball, your support for inclusion, and a food donation, and help us knock barriers out of the park at Modern Woodmen Park.
